It was in 2010 that I first heard the term, “the Future of Work”. I watched tech companies, mostly in Silicon Valley, co-designing a new paradigm of work (and life) that compelled me to leave the corporate world and join the startup tech scene in Vancouver, Canada. At first I called BS on ping pong tables, Friday @ 4, holacracy, unlimited vacation, flip flop wearing CEOs, and the hyper-personalization and democratization of anything startups could solve with code. However, within 3-months I was converted. Not only did I believe in this “Future of Work”, it became clear to me that every company would one day operate as a technology company.  By 2013 I estimated that 99% of companies were still stuck in an outdated industrial age mindset and were facing inevitable disruption.

Once I equipped myself with years of startup & scale-up tech experience and entrenched myself in the innovation scenes across North America, I founded the NoW of Work. The problem to solve was clear - people and companies were not ready for an exponential world. The information/digital age had exploded beyond most people's wildest imagination. A team, equipped with the culture and operational knowledge of both (necessarily bureaucratic) large corporations and scrappy (necessarily innovative and agile) startup tech, could bridge the gap and help organizations thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Then came COVID-19
. The vast majority of companies and people were thrust into this new paradigm previously occupied by tech and the most modern companies in each sector. People have challenged their previous assumptions about work and life and companies are feeling insecure, disconnected, and even fearful for an uncertain future.

The NoW of Work was created to solve these challenges before the global pandemic ever arrived. Today we are faced with the excitement of accelerated Exponential Technologies, Web3, and the new Paradigm of Work and Life. Seemingly overnight, companies seeking our expertise grew 1,000 times larger.

Our team brings diverse backgrounds from Fortune 500 companies, startup tech, and education. We collectively have rich experiences and expertise in Executive Leadership, People & Culture, Marketing, Operations, Boards, and Social Impact.

As proponents of the Gig Economy, we occasionally utilize freelance consultants who are trained in the various frameworks and methodologies developed by the NoW of Work team. Each are experts in their crafts and allow us to engage with clients from almost anywhere in North America and beyond. At least one of our team members will always lead our engagements, but we are not shy about bringing on other skilled facilitators and consultants when needed to provide the best experience for our client partners.
